Cantaloupe plants grow on vines during the spring and summer. The orange fruit tastes musky yet sweet. These plants need plenty of space to grow because of their lengthy vines. Melons should be picked right before they ripen. They love full, warm sun and rich soil. They should be planted in rows about 5-6’ apart.
